Difference in K, KB, kbps, and MB

In telecommunication, the bit rate is the number of bits that are transmitted in a given time period, usually a second. The abbreviation table below shows the relationship of each data size.  Suffixes such as ps (per second) will be added to the data size to show its transmission rate (ex. kilobits per second = kbps).  Connection speed is always referred to in bits, whereas file size is referred to in bytes.
